Louisiana’s 2025 Appointment Renewal Process—A Complete Overview
With the 2025 renewal period approaching, business entities operating in Louisiana must prepare to renew their appointments through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR). The Louisiana Department of Insurance will officially open the renewal cycle on July 1, 2025. Here’s everything you need to keep in mind. Full details can be found at: Louisiana, Business Appointment Renewal | NIPR
When to Renew: Important Dates
The renewal system goes live at 8:00 AM CDT on July 1, 2025, and remains open until 4:00 PM CDT on August 1, 2025. If you plan to terminate any appointments to avoid being charged, submit them by June 27, 2025. Renewal invoices will be accessible on the Company Appointment Renewals User Agreement page.
Covered License Types
This renewal applies to the following appointment categories for business entities:
-
Life, Accident & Health
-
Property & Casualty
-
Variable Life & Variable Annuities
-
Limited Life, Health, and Accident
Only active appointments as of June 27, 2025, will be included in your invoice. Appointments initiated on June 28 or later will roll over into the next year’s renewal cycle. Your business must maintain an active license status to proceed.
Payment Methods & Fees
Entities can pay their renewal fees via credit card (up to $60,000) or electronic check. Invoices over that amount must be handled through direct contact with the Louisiana Department of Insurance. Once payment is submitted, NIPR transmits data to the state within one business day.
The state fee is $100 per renewal, and no late renewals are allowed. NIPR applies an additional 1% processing fee (minimum $5, capped at $1,000). All transactions are non-refundable.

Verify Your Appointment Data
NIPR users can take advantage of tools like the Company Appointment Report (CAR) and Interactive Appointment and Termination Application to confirm appointment details. If you’re not currently subscribed, consider partnering with a compliance platform like Agenzee to keep everything in sync.
Action Steps Before the Deadline
Since Louisiana doesn’t offer a late renewal grace period, it’s important to act early. Review your appointment records, file any necessary terminations before June 27, and prepare to complete the renewal once it opens on July 1, 2025. Visit NIPR or contact their support team if you need assistance.
